The task
The store sells compression sportswear: rashguards, shorts, leggings with bold prints. It needed a short vertical video for social media that shows the range and looks like an ad, not a catalogue. Shooting every set on a live model is slow and expensive, and there are a lot of items.
Why, and what the idea was
Compression wear is bought with the eyes: the print decides. So the idea is simple: one athlete, one studio, nothing to distract, and the set changes right on him. The viewer does not switch between scenes; he watches the same man and sees five sets appear on him one after another. A turn of the back in every set, so the print and the logo are visible from behind too.
How it went
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| Stage 1 | The idea: one athlete in a grey studio, the set changes on him, a flash as the transition between sets |
| Stage 2 | Scene generation: a punch and a stance in the first set, a turn of the back in each following one, a red laser transition |
| Stage 3 | Edit in CapCut, music from Suno, delivery of the 21-second video |
| Six months later | The client wrote on his own and asked how the price is built. We replied with the price structure and five ideas for his niche |
Tools and method
Scenes were generated in Seedance, assembled in CapCut, music from Suno. We did not keep a detailed log of this job at the time, so there is no list of prompts here. The rule we make such videos by now: the garment is not described in words, a photo of it goes into every frame where it is visible, and the text carries a lock line for the print, the logo and the cut.
When the client came back, we did not sell him “one more of the same”. We offered five ideas for compression wear: an X-ray in motion, where muscle lines show through the fabric of a runner; a split screen with one athlete on the left without compression and on the right in a set; a macro of fabric squeezing a muscle; a cheetah in leggings on a treadmill; a recovery time-lapse with a fatigue graph over the legs. Two of them build on a technique we had already worked out, white hand-drawn graphics over video.
Result
The video is 21 seconds, 9:16. 0-5 s: the athlete in a camouflage set punches and dodges, a red laser flash at the fifth second. 6-8 s: the green and orange set, a turn of the back. 9-13 s: red with a Viking, front and back. 14-16 s: the black set. 17-20 s: the colorful one with skulls. In every set the logo is visible on the chest, on the back and on the waistband of the shorts.
The main result is not the video but what came after it: six months later the client wrote again on his own and asked the price of a new one. Clients like this do not come in cold, and there is almost no haggling.
Mistakes and what we took from them
