Maileny Skincare: a landing page for a Dominican esthetician where booking is one WhatsApp message

What it was

An esthetician from Bonao was looking for a one-page site where clients book through WhatsApp. The open brief had over 135 entries, and nearly all were mockups on stock photos with invented copy. The only way to book with her was to start a conversation from scratch on Instagram.

What we did

Built the page from her real Instagram: her logo, the services from the banner in her cabin, her slogans, her phone and photos. Spanish copy checked with LanguageTool and an independent editor. Every button opens WhatsApp with a ready message for a specific service. There are no prices or street address in the sources, so there are none on the site.

What the client got

The demo is published on Vercel and was submitted within one day. A first screen with her line 'Una piel sana demuestra el amor con el que te tratas', five services each with a WhatsApp button, three booking steps, a gallery from her Instagram, contacts with a map. Responsive down to 375 px with no horizontal scroll.

The task

An esthetician from Bonao in the Dominican Republic was looking for an elegant one-page site for her skincare center. The one main requirement: a client must be able to book through WhatsApp. Spanish, the beauty niche, a small town.

The brief was open, and by the time we submitted it had over 135 entries. Nearly all were mockups on stock photos with invented copy: a pretty model from a photo bank, “Lorem ipsum”, a price list with numbers out of thin air. None of them said anything about the client herself.

Why, and what the idea was

The idea is simple: make a page about her, not about an abstract spa. Her Instagram already had everything: the stamp logo, the banner with services in her cabin, her slogans, her phone, photos from work. We built the page from that and invented nothing. Neither the brief nor her Instagram has prices or a street address, so the site has none either.

The second half of the idea is about booking. A client finds the center on Instagram but can only book by starting a conversation from scratch. On the page every button opens WhatsApp with the text already written, for example “Hola Maileny, quiero información sobre la limpieza facial”. All that is left is to press send. Each of the five services has its own button and its own text.

How it went

When What happened
Stage 1 Brief analysis and over 135 other entries. Decision: build from the client’s real Instagram, not from stock
Stage 2 Collecting facts from Instagram: logo, services from the banner in the cabin, slogans, phone, photos. What we could not find (prices, address) stayed off the site
Stage 3 Spanish copy. LanguageTool gave 51 remarks, all false. An independent editor agent: 0 serious errors, 15 of 18 suggestions accepted
Stage 4 Markup: a first screen with a ring of text in the style of her stamp, a promo strip, services, about, steps, gallery, reviews, contacts. Responsive down to 375 px
Stage 5 Demo published on Vercel, screenshots for the submission
Stage 6, the same day Submission. Surprise: the platform does not accept an entry with a Trust Score below 35, a new account has 15. Linking a social account gave +20. Submitted as entry #136

Tools and method

One HTML file with no build step: markup, styles and script inside. Booking through WhatsApp click-to-chat links: each button carries its own ready text for a specific service. The demo is hosted on Vercel.

The Spanish was checked twice. First LanguageTool: 51 remarks, every one turned out to be false on inspection. Then an independent editor agent that was given only the text, without the context of the task: zero serious errors, 18 suggestions, 15 of them accepted.

Facts about the business come only from her Instagram and the brief. The reviews on the page are samples, and they are labeled as samples right on the site, with a note that the final version will replace them with real ones from her pinned stories.

Result

First screen: her line from the bio “Una piel sana demuestra el amor con el que te tratas”, a round photo inside a rotating ring of text in the style of her stamp logo, a “Reservar por WhatsApp” button and a phone number for those who prefer to call.

Then a promo strip for laser on Tuesdays and Fridays, five services (facial cleansing, hydrating facial, microdermabrasion, diode laser hair removal, personalized care) each with a WhatsApp button, an about block with her handwritten slogan, three booking steps, a gallery from her Instagram, sample reviews, contacts with a map of Bonao. A floating WhatsApp button on every screen, responsive down to 375 px with no horizontal scroll.

What we do not know: whether the client will pick our entry. We did not measure the conversion of this page, it is a demo for an open brief, not a live site.

Mistakes and what we took from them

The platform would not let us submit.Freelancer does not accept an entry to an open brief if the Trust Score is below 35. A new account had 15. Linking a social account helped, plus 20. Rule: check the threshold in advance, before the work is done.
The submission form has limits you learn about at the last moment.Title up to 50 characters, description up to 1000. The submission text had to be cut on the fly. Now we write the description to the limit from the start.
An automatic language check does not replace a reader.LanguageTool produced 51 remarks on the Spanish text, and all of them were false. The real edits came from an independent editor. Rule: a language linter is only the first filter, the final proofreading goes to a separate reader without the context of the task.
What is not in the sources is not on the site. The temptation to add a price list and an address was there: nearly every entry in the brief does it. But there are no prices or street in the brief or in her Instagram. Instead of invented numbers, the site has a "Pedir información" button under every service, and a town and a map in the contacts.
